We travel to SOUTHERN, IL. Enroute stop at historic SILKWOOK INN, named after Brazil’s Silk wood. We learn more about the Underground Railroad, and a young girl who survived the Trail of Tears; all part of the story of the Silkwood Inn near Mulkeytown….This freed slave girl survived the Trail of Tears and her love of hollyhocks. Your escort will give a detailed narration along with a package of hollyhocks to remember your visit. Motor to GIANT CITY VISITORS Center to view a short film relative to the developed area. Nearby is the historic GIANT CITY LODGE. Built in 1934 as a product of the CC Corps that developed this beautiful State Park... Enjoy a bountiful family-style meal served at the lodge.
